It’s strange how we tend to put a lot of reliance of things to work 24/7. I rely on Bloglines for my source of news. I subscribe to practically everything on Bloglines and hardly ever use any other rss feed readers (whether offline or online). When I found out that I couldn’t connect to Bloglines, I knew it was down. But I wasn’t prepared for it to be down until 8pm PST. So for those agonizing hours, I couldn’t read anything.

I’m now searching for some other online feed readers. Currently checking out Gritwire and it seems quite cool. I do have FeedReader but I don’t like having to wait for it to load all the feeds (especially if it’s been a year since I last used it). I guess I am now in search of a replacement for Bloglines. It’s too bad that when something is popular that it no longer works as well as it used to.

(EDIT. March 8, 2008)

I have since used Newsgator for quite a lengthy period of time but still went back to Bloglines because Newsgator tends to be much slower in loading. I have also tried many other readers like Netvibes, Google reader and so many others. I practically went down an entire list of feed readers and opened accounts just to try them out and still went back to Bloglines. I’m quite particular about what I want. I want to be able to read an entire post while also have the ability to only view titles if I want to. I want to be able to click once and have all the news entries load. And, it needs to load quickly. Google reader takes up way too long to read which is why I didn’t really stick with it.

What feed readers do you guys use? Please provide your suggestions in the comments below. Thanks!
