Here’s a cute and simple game called CandyTrain that can be quite challenging to play as well. The game is quite simple. Your objective is to direct the Candy Train along the grids of the board by flipping the tracks, providing a path for the train so that the train won’t de-rail or crash. Along the way, you are expected to drive through and pick up candies, berries, and food to increase points. But don’t forget to keep the train running, and on the board and watch out for switching tracks. And keep your eye on the time or it will be GAME OVER.
Here’s some specs on the game:
Operating System
* Palm OS® 4
* Palm OS® 5
Color Screen
* Native 160×160 (Low-Res)
* Native 320×320 (Hi-Res)
* Compatible 320×480 (Portrait)
* Compatible 480×320 (Landscape)
And simulations of the game.
Simulation of the demo and “how to play” introduction
The simulation will play through to the end unless I’ve inserted a pop up note to explain specific points.
To continue playing the simulation, press the
or
button.
To go back to a previous paused segment, click on the
or
button.
To pause the simulation at any time, press the
button. To continue after it’s paused, press the button again.
To scroll forward or backward in the simulation, click anywhere on the left (to go back earlier in the simulation), or right (to go forward in the simulation) on
the progress bar.
Simulation of a sample CandyTrain game
Here’s a sample CandyTrain game to show how the game plays.
This is a very cute game that I’ve already said is not only simple but addictive. I like the cute music and sound effects of the game and it aids in my enjoyment as it sounds so deceivingly happy and cute but as the game goes on, you can hear the changes as expected to pick up the pace. The graphics are quite amazing, as most Astraware games are and this is quite a gem that not many people are aware of. Although it may seemingly appear to appeal to a younger audience, don’t be deceived as I do find it quite appealing and fun to play. My son likes playing it (probably he’s a train fanatic) but also because it’s cute. And it’s quite nice to play a game that isn’t the typical fire and blast everything out of the sky shooting game.
If you haven’t tried CandyTrain, I’d suggest that you do and who knows, maybe it will quickly become one of your favorites.

CONTACT ME

Played Candy Train for a while on my z71 and T|T3. I liked it b/c:
-It reminded me of Pipe Dreams for the older PCs, which I also happened to like
-color graphics and Candy Land theme (i think it was a board game)
-sound not necessary, but always complimentary if done correctly, which it does do
-options like slowing down and speeding up the train, starting level are nice
I ultimately stopped playing it b/c I’d get a fatal error on both my handhelds after beating a whole bunch of levels. Astraware couldn’t put their finger on what was going wrong, but then again i can’t blame them. I wasn’t able to go into deep detail about how it happened other then when I was quite far into the game and AW’s priority was IIRC, either Bej2 or some other major PopCap game conversion which was HIGH profile.
Thanks for sharing your experience of the game with the rest of us. I have never been able to get past the first few levels (yes, I’m very sad with respect to games)
But it’s always fun regardless.
