I’m sure you guys and gals are used to my usual mentions of free Audible audio recording files. I just wanted to mention that the latest edition of Josephine Reed’s This Is Audible is now available for download.
For those not familiar with the free This is Audible show hosted by Josephine Reed that’s broadcasted on XM Satellite Radio, this is an hour long radio show where Josephine Reed, the host will discuss the latest audio books, provide interviews with authors, clips of various audio recording that are available at Audible. Obviously, this is very much a “self promotional” show as it discusses and promotes Audible products, but a lot of the material is quite interesting. Previous shows featured interviews with Ashley Judd, Matthew Broderick, Sue Grafton, and many, many more. This is Audible is available every Tuesday and Friday with a lot of entertaining material. I’ve discussed Audible along with a sample of This Is Audible in my previous posting here. Again, this is a free download and you can also subscribe to a month’s subscription or a 12 month subscription. Needless to say, I’ve got a 12 month subscription to this program and love it.
In this edition:
We begin with an October literary birthday: Anne Rice, the author who writes fantastically scary books about vampires and witches, often set in her native New Orleans, was born in October 1941. We listen to Interview with the Vampire, Christ the Lord, and Out of Egypt, and revisit an interview between Josephine and Anne.
Then, Brad Meltzer talks about his new thriller based on ex-presidents and the Masonic history, The Book of Fate.
Also, the author who wrote the sensation White Oleander is back with a new book, Paint it Black. Novelist Janet Fitch speaks with XM Radio’s Maggie Linton.
Lastly, we mark the Columbus Day weekend with a look at 1491, a book by Charles Mann that upends the way we think about America before Columbus.
(Broadcast Date: October 6, 2006)

There’s also Harry Shearer’s Le Show (another free file) that discusses the politics and news of the past week. I don’t particularly care about his skits but do enjoy his perspective on politics and makes for interesting listening.
