Brando Workshop Deluxe Leather Case (Pouch Type) A BIG THANKS goes to Brando for providing the product for this review.

The Brando Workshop Deluxe Leather Case comes in two different types or versions. The one that I am reviewing is the Pouch Type, which is a lateral or horizontal case. There is a Flip Top type, which is a horizontal case and it’s very different in style and comes with a removable belt clip. Please keep that in mind when reading my review as there are two types and I’m reviewing only one of them.

Here’s a nice lateral or horizontal leather case with a belt clip for the Treo 650. Not only having a soft leather, stylish looking case make the overall package of the Treo look so much more sophisticated and business-like, you can always have the Treo with you at all times (except when answering the phone) because the case comes with a belt clip. So, when you’re not using the Treo, you can safely put it inside the case and have it clipped to your belt or pants. This is a great way to make sure that you don’t accidentally leave it somewhere, like on a table. Of course, this still takes a bit of mental conditioning to rememeber to automatically put it in the case when it’s not in your hand, but at least, having a belt clip offers that opportunity.

I have personally experienced my woes of losing a wallet with the last time being a total nightmare. That’s why I try to prevent it from every happening again and stress on having a belt clip for my cases. And I normally have a preference of horizontal or lateral case because I tend to like having something that doesn’t stick up vertically when clipped to the belt. So, when I’m bending down to tie my shoelaces that the cell phone, or Treo doesn’t poke me in the gut. That is a personal preference and I will start looking at and reviewing vertical cases from now on, to provide a variety of products that appeal to others.

Here’s my video review of the Brando Workshop Deluxe Leather Case (Pouch Type). I am possibly going to start posting the videos at Vimeo instead of YouTube since YouTube has been taking way too long (hours or even days) to process the video and have it available for viewing so I am looking for an alternative to YouTube for the video streaming. If anyone has any suggestions, or even opinions on how it looks and works on Vimeo please let me know via the Contact Form below!

The Brando Workshop Deluxe Leather Case comes in a nice maroon and dark blue box. Unlike many other accessory packaging where it’s mostly blister packs, this is quite a nice change. It actually makes the case seem extra special, because it’s in such a nice looking box. Regardless of blister packaging or not, one thing I still prefer HK packaging because, even when they are in blister (clear plastic) packaging because they aren’t heat sealed. That means, rather than using a part of scissors or knife and fighting with the packaging to make a cut, I can easily just open it up. No cut fingers in the process. No extra sharp edges to throw away. Why do we in North America have blister packs? I’ve always hated them, even in the early days when CDs were in blister packaging. Okay, back to the review.

Opening the box, the Deluxe Leather Case is wrapped around a piece of protective sheet. The case comes in black. It is single stitched all around the case in white thread. There is a magnetic tab that wraps over the top of the case from the back at the middle to hold in the Treo securely when it’s in the case. The tab also is branded with the Brando logo to make it quite distinctive and stand out. At the back, there is a belt clip, to allow you to easily clip it to a belt or pants. This allows you to hold your Treo or PDA when it’s not in your hands, and still keep it with or, on you, rather then somewhere else, where you may easily forget and lose it.

My observation with regards to the case is that the belt clip is not as strong as I’d like it to be. The clip is actually fine on most belts and pants, but for me, since I tend to not wear belts but usually wear pants that are thin in material, this poses a problem as the clip can easily slide out. Unlike other clips, the clip doesn’t have a spring, so it doesn’t clip to something as thin as a piece of paper, that the spring type clips would. Unlike the spring clips, you don’t have to press on a part to release the spring on the clip, but simply slide it in and out. So, both clips have their benefits. Again, please note that my observation is only due to my preference to wear thin material pants. If you are wearing thicker material pants like jeans, or a belt, the belt clip will work perfectly fine.

The Brando Workshop Deluxe Leather Case (Pouch Type) looks very stylish and makes the Treo look so much nicer when enclosed in the case. If you are looking a soft based horizontal or lateral case, give the Brando Workshop Deluxe Leather Case (Pouch Type) a closer look.
