Thanks for the kind words and for taking the time to leave a comment. Unfortunately, I've been having some difficulty with the host so I wasn't able to post this comment until now.

First of all, I am not that connected to the accessory manufacturers as you may assume. But I am posting your comment in hopes that someone who may stumble upon this website may decide to implement your idea.

Second, there are a couple people you may want to contact with your idea and they may consider it.

Check out and contact Tech Center Labs as they have created some very interesting accessories.

Also, try contacting Brighthand member WyreNut and see if he is interested in this. He was the first guy who created the TX microphone that attaches via the multi-connector before everyone else started making similar ones.

Good luck!

I was thinking about designing a short retractable USB cable with a enclosure that can be attached to the bottom of a palm or treo device, adding some 8-10 mm to the total lenght of the unit, but maintaining the same exterior finishing and color. Inside the enclosure, it will house a short USB cable (aprox 2 inches long, enought for connecting the unit to a near USB port) internally connected to the corrects pins in the Palm connector. The cable will unfold if stretched to the side of the unit, and will retract totally (even the usb connector) inside the enclosure, for a visually clear design when not in use. The unit will also have a Palm connector in the bottom to allow placing the unit in any standard palm cradle without dettaching it. A device like this will allow to use a Palm/Treo or any similar device as a card reader, pen drive, U3 portable apps container, etc. It'd also allow to connect it to any PC, audio equipment, etc to sync, recharge or use as a pen drive without having to carry external cables !!!!

I thought about patenting or commercializing it in some way, but after some months in which I havent done anything with this idea, I decided to write it to you, hoping that you can deliver it to a manufacturer who is capable of constructing it.

Congratulations for your site !
