Palm Discovery gives a BIG THANKS to Palm Addicts for the recent front page exposure. Thanks!
Palm Discovery would like to extend a BIG THANKS to Richard and Luis of Prima Cases for providing the product for this review.
Here’s a PDA/smartphone/mp3 player case that doesn’t make you look geeky but rather complements your fashionable attire and will also draw some eyes your way. It’s Prima Cases’ Metrocase, a very beautifully crafted and designed leather case that will fit a wide variety of portable devices like you iPhone, iPod, Treo, PDA, mp3 players, etc. The soft luxurious leather really shows the delicate and beauty of the pouch type case.

The style is simple but stylish and beautiful. And it’s no wonder as it’s designed by world class designer Jean Claude Mastroianni. The top flap is secured at the front by a magnetic snap closure, which makes it easy to open and close. At the back, there’s a locking hook that you can attach to a handbag strap, belt, belt loop, etc. The nice feature of the hook/clip is that prevents the tangling of the case as the case can twirl around in circles without getting stuck. As well, when the case is not hanging onto a strap or belt, the clip will drop and slip down at the back and you’re left with the rectangular shaped case. The case is very roomy for most portable electronic devices and being made of leather, you may be able to fit even the most fitting one in it. This is one case that doesn’t even look like a gadget or portable device case at all.

Here are my observations:
This is a very beautiful case that should appeal to many fashion conscious individuals and females. The case is made of very soft supple leather and it’s a beauty to behold. All those aside, this case is really meant as a functional carrying case for your portable electronic device. Although it will hold the electronic device very well as it is large and roomy to hold a variety of devices, in terms of protection, it is somewhat lacking.
There are no cushions or padded areas in the pouch case to provide any added protection. If you are fitting in a Treo smartphone, you will find that there’s a lot of room left and when carrying it, you will notice the Treo moving inside, bumping into the sides of the case. Since you may likely be clipping the case to a handstrap, it is less likely that it will be bumping into anything, although, the case will likely be swinging when attached to a shoulder strap.
Regardless, as a fashionable and stylish looking case, it will work very well to hold your device, but it lacks shock and bump protection. Alternatively, with its roomy interior, you can easily protect your device with a hard case and still easily fit the hard case and your device together comfortably inside. That way, you can still look stylish and yet provide ample protection for your smartphone or portable electronic device.
Prima Cases Metrocase is a very stylish and beautiful looking pouch case offered by Prima Cases. It is very roomy to accomodate a wide variety of mobile devices including iPhones, iPods, Treos, other smartphones and PDAs. The hook/clip makes it very easy to clip onto a handbag or shoulder strap, belt, belt loop, etc. Aside from that, it is designed by world famous designer, Jean Claude Mastroianni. If nothing else, just the mere name dropping will get some attention from friends and onlookers. Think, to get all this attention and admiration for a fraction of the cost of any accessory from a world class designer, this may be well worth it.
All looks aside, this case does lack in shock and bump protection as it does not offer extra cushion or padded areas inside. If you are looking for a case that can provide some protective measures agains shock and bumps, this may not be the case for you.
