Anyone who has ever owned a mobile or portable electronic device will tell you that having an extra spare battery is very handy and in many times, a lifesaver. That is especially true if you are a heavy user and rely on that electronic device for work or to stay connected to the rest of the world in the case of our Treo smartphones. A dead Treo battery may mean a lost contract or worse, a job. So getting a spare Treo battery is something that most people should consider.

So the decision for most would be which battery to choose from: standard capacity Treo battery that will offer similar battery life to the default Treo battery or a higher capacity extended Treo battery with a longer battery life.

I decided to get a standard capacity battery instead of the modified bulkier ones mainly because I didn’t like to ruin the looks of my Treo with a bulging battery door/cover and would rather simply swap out the battery when I need to. And, I certainly am not disappointed with Proporta’s Standard Capacity Treo Battery for the 750, 680, 755p.

Although it is a standard capacity Treo battery that really isn’t much different from the standard default battery found in the Treo device, I am a bit surprised that the Proporta Standard Capacity battery offered a slightly better battery life than the stock Treo battery that came with my Treo 750.

Over several occasions and days, I have noted the battery percentage at various times and have concluded that the Proporta battery is slightly better than my stock battery.

Over a twelve hour period of very little usage, the battery of the Treo stock battery went from 100% to 90%. The Proporta standard capacity Treo battery went from 100% to 91%. I have monitored it for a number of days and the results are very consistent. Although 1% isn’t much, regardless it is still a slight bit better.

Here are my observations:

As mentioned already, I am very satisfied with Proporta’s Standard Capacity Battery for Treo 750 which will also fit the Treo 680, 755p and of course, Treo 750v. Surprisingly, it offers a slightly better battery life than my stock Treo battery.

Although it is is of the same capacity as the standard stock Treo battery, keep in mind that this is an extra spare battery to help keep your device powered up during the day. Being the same size and weight as the stock Treo battery, you can easily pocket this with you everywhere you go and swap it into your Treo when you need to. Of course, it’s certainly not going to as long as an extended battery on one charge but then, you don’t need to use a new modified battery cover/door that could potentially ruin the looks of your Treo not to mention also potentially forcing you to ditch your cases since most of them won’t likely fit your Treo with the bulging extended battery door/cover. But again, that’s only my personal opinion.

I can’t find any fault with this Treo battery as it works very well. As mentioned, this is the same capacity as the stock Treo battery so don’t expect it to last any longer but when used with your stock battery, it should allow you to be able to go through the day without running out of power. If you don’t mind pocketing an additional battery and don’t really want to get an extended battery with a modified battery door/cover and add extra bulk, then, this Proporta’s Standard Capacity Battery may be what you’re looking for.

Review Summary

Proporta’s Standard Capacity Battery is an excellent and essential accessory to have, especially for Treo users with a busy lifestyle that may have difficulty keeping the Treo running on one charge for an entire day. Unlike the extended capacity Treo battery that is slightly thicker and require a modified extended battery door that bulges and sticks out, the standard capacity Treo battery will fit perfectly inside the Treo with the stock battery cover/door. Simply swap out the stock battery and replace it with your replacement standard capacity battery and away you go. Being the exact size as the stock battery, it doesn’t take up much space and can easily fit into a shirt or pant pocket. It can’t get any simpler than this.
