I’m probably like many of you, always looking out for the ultimate travel accessory to lessen the amount of cables, adapters and all those other stuff that I carry when traveling. Especially nowadays when most airlines will slap you with outrageous fees if you’re just a tad over on your carry on or luggage or charge you for the second luggage or other outrageous new rules they have recently implemented. So, it’s important to carry as little as possible. And USB Fever’s 2-in-1 Car/Home Travel Dual USB Charger is practically the main charger you’ll likely need as it can charge your portable devices with TWO USB ports, a dual voltage AC adapter with interchangeable prong attachments for USA, UK, Europe and Australia, plus it offers a car adapter for charging in the car. That’s all in one little portable charger. Pretty handy I must say.

USB Fever’s 2-in-1 Car/Home Travel Dual USB Charger comes in one main piece which consists of two USB ports, a car adapter at one end and an AC charger at the other. The best way I can describe it is a cross between USB Fever’s Universal AC Travel Charger (my review here) and the USB Car Charger Adapter (my review here) as this charger combines the strengths and features of both products into one. So, you no longer need to carry both a car charger AND an AC adapter because this ONE charger can do both. Cool!
The charger is composed of one main piece shaped very similar to many car charger adapter out in the market today. At one end is the car adapter, covered with a protective cap to prevent damage and keep it neat and tidy. There’s an LED light or power indicator located below to indicate power. Beneath that are two high speed USB 2.0 slots or ports to power your portable devices. The top one is labeled MP3 (Output: 5V/500mA) and the bottom is labeled Phone-PDA-iPod (Output: 5V/1000mA). At the other end of the adapter is the area where you insert any of the supplied 4 types of AC wall socket prongs (US, UK, Europe, Australia) to enable it for plugging into the wall. Very similar in structure to the prong attachments of the Universal AC Travel Charger, you simply slide on or off the attachment for the wall socket. Very handy.

Here are my observations: I really like how this product combines the best of what I like in both the Universal AC Travel Charger and the USB Car Charger Adapter. First of all, it’s lightweight and practically has everything there in one unit. This all-in-one unit practically replaces both chargers, freeing up space and clutter and eliminating the extra weight of carrying both chargers. I really like the dual voltage support with the interchangeable heads feature as it eliminates having to carry those somewhat heavy and bulky travel adapters I’ve always hated carrying with me. The dual USB ports is very handy as most of us likely carry more than one portable device so having two ports to charge our devices allows us to charge not only our smartphones but keep the GPS unit running while in the car. It’s one great little charger that practically does it all.
My main complaint (again, I’m being picky) is that I wished there were at least a protective cover for the wall socket adapter prongs. When it’s attached to the charger, you have the prongs sticking out, which can potentiall cause trouble when it’s packed into a bag. Either the prongs start digging into something you don’t want or expect, or it will scratch something, and it may also get bent or broken. Since the car adapter has a protective cap, wouldn’t it be nice to have one for the wall socket prongs too? Or, at least, have a special carrying case to hold the extra prongs when not in use? Just a thought. Other than these picky points, I really can’t find fault with this all-in-one-charger.
USB Fever’s 2-in-1 Car/Home Travel Dual USB Charger may very likely be the main USB charger you will need as it covers both home (via AC sockets) and car (car adapter) in addition to world voltage and prongs attachment. Its very lightweight and portable size makes it a welcome addition to your travel bag as it takes up very little space and eliminates the need for all the other chargers, wires, adapters, prongs, etc. This one little charger will replace all that, offering two USB 2.0 ports for charging your iPods, mp3 players, smartphones, etc. The interchangeable AC adapter prongs with dual voltage make it very easy to switch between the various popular plugs when you’re traveling from one area to another. This practically eliminates the need for a voltage converter adapter which can be not only bulky but also heavy. With a car adapter, you can also use this charger in your car, charging and powering two devices at the same time. Can this get any better? Maybe an extra USB port? Or how about air adapters? Just kidding. USB Fever’s 2-in-1 Car/Home Travel Dual USB Charger may be the only charger you’ll ever need.
