This is one of those off topic posts that isn’t related to technology or devices but one that I felt I should write since I think it’s worth posting.

For those who were not aware of this, Starbucks launched their Starbucks(Red) Campaign to fight AIDS in Africa. Their campaign started on Nov 28, 2008 and ended Jan 2nd, 2009. Basically, for every Starbucks (Red) exclusive drink (Peppermint Mocha Twist, Gingersnap Latte and Espresso Truffle) purchased during that period, Starbucks made a donation of 5 cents to the Global Fund to invest in AIDS programs in Africa. Also, on Dec 1st, in honor of the 20th Anniversary of World AIDS Day, Starbucks donated 5 cents for every barista crafted beverage purchased on that day.

During this period, I pledged to purchase 10 drinks (it’s not a lot I know) and I am proud to say that I have met the pledge and helped contribute to their (RED) Campaign.
Although the original seasonal (Red) campaign is officially over, Starbucks is still continuing their (Red) campaign for 2009. For every purchase made with the (Starbucks) RED card, 5 cents will be donated towards the Starbucks (Red) campaign to fight AIDS in Africa. What a great way to start a year! You get to help fight AIDS in Africa while still enjoying your Starbucks!
More info on the Starbucks (RED) Campaign here.
You also get your Starbucks card here, although the StarbucksStore doesn’t offer the (RED) card. I hope they will because I think it’s a great idea.
So, what about you? I’m sure some of you visit Starbucks, perhaps you’re a Starbucks coffee fan (like myself). Did you make a pledge towards the Starbucks (RED) Campaign? If so, please leave a comment with your screen name to share with the rest of us. I’d love to get a list of people who pledged for this great cause! Or, did you, or are you, getting the (RED) card and helping out for rest of 2009? I’d love to hear from you!
