Review: Palm Treo Pro Part 2: Software
Published August 12th, 2009 in hardware-review, palm, pda-smartphone-reviews, reviews, windows-mobilePalm Discovery would like to extend a BIG THANKS to Amy Clark of Environics for providing the product for this review.

Welcome back to Part 2 of a 3 part review of the Palm Treo Pro smartphone which runs on Windows Mobile 6.1. If you haven’t read Part 1 which covers an overview of the device, check it out. In this part, I will be providing a number of videos showing the programs and software in the smartphone plus a couple comparing the display of the Treo Pro with the Treo 650, Treo 750 and Nokia E71 smartphones. I have provided a number of videos so grab yourself a nice beverage before you continue. However, I have provided a quick jump to various parts of this review for quicker access.

Here are some photos taken with the various smartphones to provide you with a comparison. The pics are uploaded without any editing.

Pictures taken with Treo 750 (1280×1024)
Pictures taken with Treo 650 (640×480)
The Treo Pro seems to offer more of a yellow in the pictures while the E71 is obviously very purplish grey (haven’t updated to 3.0 which apparently fixes the issue) while the Treo 750 offers a brighter but more lighter picture. What do you think?
I have uploaded the videos to Photobucket for quick playback but they have been converted to flv. For best unaltered quality for comparison, you may wish to download the files (right click on the link and select “Save Link As”) individually in their own format and view them and make the comparisons instead of simply viewing the flv videos. It’s up to you.
Comparison of the screensaver/standby display
Here are what the screens look like when in standby/screensaver mode with their own energy saving screensaver with date and time. The Treo Pro simply offers a LCD screen which works very well. However, in comparison, I personally prefer the Nokia E71’s transreflective screen as it seems to offer a sharp image that works and look much nicer. What do you think?
This will conclude Part 2 of a 3 part review of the Palm Treo Pro smartphone. Please continue on to Part 3 where I will provide my observations (both good and bad) about the smartphone and final conclusions.
