Palm Discovery would like to thank Andrew Stone for providing a license of Twittelator Pro and allowing me to help share the news about this great Twitter app for the iPhone and iPod Touch! THANKS!

Nowadays, most people including brands, companies, celebrities and even friends and family are on Twitter. Whether they are active on Twitter and tweet or just set up an account to keep up on tweets, it’s not suprising that Twitter is very popular. So, it’s not surprising that there’s a lot of Twitter clients and apps on many mobile platforms.

Today, I’ll be taking a look at (it’s impossible to go through the app since it’s so feature rich) Andrew Stone’s Twittelator Pro. This is one program that offers A LOT of features that a review can’t cover. Twittelator, although it is feature rich, can be easily used as a basic Twitter client, allowing you easy access to tweets for reading, Re-tweeting, sharing and of course, easy tweeting.
The program upon launching, loads the “Friends” tab showing you a vertical loading and listing of tweets from your “friends” or, those you are following. At the top, is the reload icon, a circular arrow going counterclockwise, the name of the tab you are currently on (Friends) and the number of new tweets in brackets. At the top right is a box with a pencil which represents the Tweet creation screen. Underneath are the individual tweets. At each tweet, there’s a small avatar or picture at the top left, the name or the username of the tweeter, plus a paperclip icon (if it includes a link) and how long ago (from current time) it was posted. At the bottom, you will see a toolbar menu of tabs: Friends (follows) with a speaking bubble icon and possibly a red number if there are new tweets), Mentions with an @ symbol, Messages (DMs) with an envelope icon, Settings with a gear icon, and More with (…) . Tap on any of those tabs and you will be taken to that particular tab’s screen. The layout will be very much the same with the name and avatar at top left and the time on the top right. In the Messages tab, there is also a set of tabs at the top: “Received”, “Sent” which shows you the DMs you’ve received and sent. The settings tab offers a host of customization options allowing you to set the number of tweets that load each time, the theme, sounds, link shortening and other media services, and much more! Under the “More” tab is a listing of more things you can set and do, ranging from changing and adding more Twitter accounts, viewing your profile, Subgroups, trends, favorites, bookmarks, log, etc. Didn’t I tell you that there’s a lot in this app?
Rather than spend more time going through many of the other features in the program, I will touch on one, the “Subgroups”. Here is where you can search on a “SubGroup” of topics you may be interested in whether it be for sports, politics, entertainment, etc. This is a great way to “discover” more about the topic you’re interested in and find more tweeters to follow. Each subgroup may be further broken down into more specific groups. Each group will consist of a group of tweeters that tweet on that particular subject or topic. You can subscribe or follow the entire list, or look up individual tweeters and follow him or her individually. This is very interesting, this Subgroup feature. And there’s a lot of other cool features that I haven’t even touched on or mentioned.
Seriously, there’s a lot in this app that you should go find out yourself.

Feature rich program
This is one Twitter client app that is well worth the price paid. It’s so feature rich that I can’t even copy the entire page of features from the Twittelator Pro page ’cause it’s SO LONG!
Integration with Safari
The program allows you the control over how much integration you want with Safari. You can opt to have the program open links in Safari or within the program. You can also tweet a link from Safari. You just need to set a bookmark in Safari to do so. Once you’ve set the link, whatever page you’re on, you can select the “Post with Twittelator” bookmark and it will automatically launch Twittelator with the link already in it. Very cool.
Subgroups enhance Twitter functionality
Twittelator’s Subgroups enhances the Twitter experience by offering up “SubGroups” where you can subscribe to lists rather than individual tweeters. I think this is a great feature that enhances the Twitter experience. By default, it’s set to send you DMs every time a tweet arrives from the SubGroup so you may want to change that or you’d get DMs a lot more than you’d expect.
Support multiple Twitter accounts
This is a very important feature for those who may have more than one twitter account, allowing you to access tweets from each account without having to log in an log out and entering the passwords each time. However, only one Twitter account can be viewed at a time, so you’d need to choose and change to a different one each time.
Landscape view limited to composing tweets
Although it’s nice that the program can be rotated on the side so that I can compose tweets in Landscape view (although I didn’t mention that in the video), I would like the program to support Landscape view in other screens too, like the main screen so that I can view more tweets since each can then only take up two lines instead or four or more. One of the great things about the iPod Touch is that it can support Landscape view and I only wished that more programs would also do so. So, please provide support for Landscape view throughout the program, especially with the main screen! Thanks!
Sometimes buggy
It’s impossible to have a program that doesn’t have bugs but from time to time, the program will exit out without notice. It can happen anywhere and on any screen. I’m doing something and the program will just quit on me. It’s not a big deal. I simply re-load it but it can be a bit frustrating, especially if you’re composing a tweet and it exits. Unfortunately, I can’t pin point when and where it happens as it happens so quickly that I’m like, what?
Can’t view multiple Twitter accounts simultaneously
It’s unfortunate that you can’t view tweets from multiple Twitter account simulataneously. If you want to view tweets from a different Twitter account, you will need to change it to the other one. However, if you have the passwords assigned, it’s a matter of selecting the account rather than going through the process of entering the login and password each time.
Aside from these few shortcomings, I really enjoy using Twittelator Pro because it offers a lot of features (too many) that many Twitter users will enjoy. I think that it’s well worth the $4.99 price.
Twittelator Pro offers almost everything you’d want in a Twitter client for the iPhone and iPod Touch, allowing you access to information on a tweet such as where they’re located on a map, access to their previous tweets and almost everything under the sun. What I think really makes Twittelator Pro special is the SubGroups feature where you can subscribe to a “list” of tweeters rather than individually, (although you can do that too). My main disappointment of Twittelator is that it doesn’t support Landscape mode in many of the screens, although it is supported in the Compose Tweet screen. I would really love it if Twittelator could be viewed in Landscape in the main screen at least since then I’d be able to view much more than 3 or 4 tweets at a time. But that’s my opinion. And sometimes, the program may unexpected exit without notice but then I’d re-load it again. Otherwise, the program for all it offers (well beyond what I could show in the video and in this review) is well worth the money. It’s unfortunate that there isn’t a Lite version as I’m sure many would love to be able to get a glimpse of what it can offer before putting down the money.
