I was very lucky to have been a recent winner of iGo’s Gift Bag giveaway held at iGo’s Facebook page. Thanks to iGo for offering the giveaway and also for sending along the iGo everywhere Car and Wall charger which I will be reviewing next week! Stay tuned for that review! One of the complaints of those of us who have a variety of devices is that we end up lugging around an enormous amount of cables, adapters, wires, etc whenever we travel. There’s the USB cable to connect your device to your computer, the charging cable with a large wall adapter to charge it, the headphones, and whatever else. And that’s only one device! If you bring along a camera, GPS, computer, smartphone, and some other devices, think of all the cables, adapters you have to lug around, each only charging that one device! Now picture this. Suppose I tell you that you can forget all that and bring along just one charging adapter and cable and small adapters for each device you own. Think I’m pulling your leg? Certainly not! Check out iGo and all the wonderful assortment of portable solutions that will not only lessen the amount of stuff you have to stuff into your travel bag, but take a huge load off the weight you’ll need to carry!
Read on for more details on this amazing new way to charge all your devices without carrying all those chargers and cables!
For those who want to skip over all the detailed review and just want a summary, you can jump to the review summary

The iGo system of chargers and solutions is mainly based on the idea of having ONE (yes, just ONE) main cable for charging and various iGo tips or adapters that can be fitted with it depending on your needs and preferences. So, to charge all your mobile devices like iPhone, MP3 player, GPS, digital camera, cell phones, you only need the ONE charging cable and the individual iGo tips for these devices plus if you need it for other places, the power adapter for the car, air, or home. Once you get the power adapter and the charging cable, the only thing you need is just the specific iGo tip that will connect and charge your device. Simple, isn’t it? Think of all that space and weight you’ll save! Let’s continue on and discuss the iGo Gift bag.
The iGo Gift Bag again, is not sold at the iGo Store but the various contents inside the Gift Bag is. But before we discuss the contents of the Gift Bag, let’s take a look at the Gift Bag itself. The Gift Bag is a folding cloth accessories bag that contains three transparent zippered compartments or pockets at the folds. When opened and laid out flat, the bag’s flap is at the top. Looking down you’ll see the three zippered compartments or pockets. There’s a nylon strap that can be used as a carrying handle or strap with one long end that coming from one side of the bag over to the other and is held together by velcro. Pull on the end of the straps to open it and put it back together when you need it as a strap. At the back of the bag’s flap is an elastic band that is used to wrap around the entire bag once it’s fully folded into a rectangular shape to ensure that it’s held together and doesn’t unfold out when carried. The transparent window in each compartment or pocket allows you to see what’s inside, very helpful when going through security checkpoints at airports. And because they’re all zippered, you can be sure that the contents won’t accidentally fall out when carrying the bag. Enough about the bag, let’s take a look at some of the items inside.
Inside the top compartment or pocket contains two iGo tips, A19 for Palm Zire 71, and A133 for Apple iPod Touch. These iGo tips are what you’ll need to connect your devices to the charging cable. Also inside the pocket is the iGo Tip Wallet.
The iGo Tip Wallet at first glance looks like one of those strap cushions that you can wrap around a strap, like a camera strap but it really is a little wallet for your iGo tips. Pull away at the bottom of the Wallet (held together by velcro) to open up and reveal four transparent window pockets that are just enough to fit you iGo tips. And that’s what they are, little pockets to hold your iGo tips. Because they’re transparent, you can see which ones are inside each pocket so you know which ones you’re carrying. To close it, simply fold the wallet back up and align the velcro ends and it will close and stay closed shut. As mentioned in my video, you can wrap it around your camera strap to ensure you have your iGo tips with you because you’ll never know when your devices run out of batteries and need to be charged up.
Going to the second compartment or pocket of the iGo Gift Bag is the iGo 39-in-1 Multi-Card Reader which looks like a thumb drive with its rectangular design. A closer look at one of the sides of the card reader will show four different slot to fit a variety of different flash memory cards ranging from the Secure Digital to Memory Stick and xD formats. Some formats will require an adapter to fit into these slots (eg. miniSD will require an SD adapter) but this card reader will support 39 different formats. That’s certainly nice to know! At one end of the card reader is the cap which fits over the USB connector and protects it from damage. The cap is held to the card reader (much like some thumb drives) by a set of metallic ball keychain. Unfortunately you may need to pull on the slack of the chain before attempting to fit the cap back on the card reader as part of the chain may get stuck in between. This is a slight and minor issue however.
Continuing on to the third and last compartment or pocket, you’ll notice that this is slightly bigger or deeper than the other two pockets. Inside contains three iGo tips: A43 for the Palm Treo series (650, 680, 700p, 700w/wx, 750) and A105 for the Nokia E71. Also contained inside is the USB Charging Cable which will enable you to charge all your mobile devices via the USB.
The USB Charging Cable is the heart of the iGo charging system. At one end of the iGo USB charging cable is the USB connector where you’ll plug it into the USB port of your computer or to a USB hub. At the other end is where you’ll plug in the iGo tips. Depending on what device you have, you’ll need the specific iGo tip that will fit your device. Plug in the iGo tip and your device will start charging from the USB.
As you can see, with this one charging cable, you can use it to charge a variety of devices without requiring extra special cables, adapters, etc. All you need is the iGo tip for your device and you can charge it with this cable. Imagine how much much more space you’ll have left in your travel bag and how much lighter it will be! You now won’t need to bring along all those charging cables and adapters for your phone, MP3 player, GPS, iPhone, etc. Isn’t that amazing! Just one USB charging cable and the individual iGo tips and you’re set! And all of this fits in the palm of your hand, rather than your entire travel bag!
If you already have a special AC wall USB adapter and/or car adapter, then you can also use that to plug into the wall or car and charge using this USB charging cable! Imagine how much less you’ll be carrying with you!
Here are the individual iGo tips that were included in the review:

The iGo Gift Bag is a very lightweight and portable bag that will hold a variety of iGo accessories including iGo tips, USB charging cables and others.
Three transparent zippered pockets
The iGo Gift Bag contains three transparent zippered pockets that will allow easy viewing of its contents and zippered to keep your accessories safely inside
Elastic and velcro straps holds the bag in
Elastic strap will enable the folded Gift Bag to retain its folded shape and the velcro straps will allow easy handling of the bag
Tip Wallet has velcro closure with four transparent pockets
Tip Wallet has a velcro closure with four transparent pockets to hold iGo tips. You can also wrap the Tip Wallet around a camera strap to carry with you everywhere.
39-in-1 card reader has cap with chain
The 39-in-1 card reader has a removable cap that is strung to a metal chain. This ensures that the cap won’t get lost.
USB charging cable
Excellent design eliminates multiple charging cables, adapters. One iGo cable with tips does it all
The iGo charging system is an ingenious design that only requires one charging cable and iGo tips. Rather than carry around a charging cable and adapter for EACH AND EVERY ONE of your devices, just carry this ONE iGo charging cable and the iGo tips. Wow!
39-in-1 card reader’s cap may be difficult to put back in
The only complaint I can make is about the design and the keychain of the 39-in-1 card reader’s cap. If you try to fit the cap back in, you may find that the chain will get stuck in between. So, you’ll need to first pull on the slack to ensure that there is no slack in between the cap and the card reader and then fit it back in. This is only a minor issue and perhaps if the keychain is made of nylon thread or string instead of the metallic ball chain, it may not have been as much of an issue. But like I said, this is a very minor issue and does not affect the usefulness of the card reader.
No icons or diagrams on 39-in-1 Card reader for card insertions
This is not a big deal either but there are no diagrams or icons on which way to insert the memory cards. Most times, you can tell by looking into the card slots and figuring out where the metal contacts are, but it would be nice to have it.
Although the iGo Gift Bag isn’t available for purchase from the iGo Store, some components in the Gift Bag are available. The iGo Tip Wallet is a versatile, small, portable wallet to hold up to four iGo tips, the 39-in-1 Multi-Card Reader ensures that you can read many of the different flash memory cards on your computer, the USB Charging Cable with a special two tip holder snapped on its cable is a great way to ensure you will be able to charge up your various mobile devices without carrying a lot of cables, adapter and chargers. Just take that one little USB charging cable with the iGo tips for your devices (iPod, cell phones, cameras, GPS, etc) and you can charge them with those few items. Of course, you will need to plug it to a computer or USB hub but if you have an AC wall socket adapter, you can also charge it from the wall too with that cable. iGo offers an excellent solution to the typical problem of carrying too many devices plus all those cables, chargers, wires, that normally take up a huge amount of space and weight in your travel bag. Just bring your iGo cable or charger with you plus the necessary iGo tips for your devices and you’re SET! One cable and charger for all your devices and none of the weight, cable tangles and the frustrations!
And, right now, with every laptop charger purchase at iGo, they’ll give you TWO FREE iGo tips of your choice! I’m sure you won’t have any problems selecting two iGo tips.
