Sometimes all it takes is an image or a picture to convey what you mean. Especially when you encounter strange messages or something that shows up on your screen that you don’t know, having a way to “capture” or snap an image of what’s shown on your device’s screen can be very helpful. Here’s a screen capture app that is based on a popular Screenshot for Symbian OS app and offers more settings and configuration! It’s called SuperScreenshot.
I’ve previously reviewed two other screen capturing apps. Check out my review of Antony Pranata’s Screenshot for Symbian OS and also my review of ScreenSnap by Smartphoneware to get an idea and compare between them.
Unfortunately, the program is not distributed through a regular developer’s website like other apps and versions of it may be found at various Symbian forums through the web. Here are some sites where you can download the program.

This program is likely distributed “unsigned” which means that normally, you won’t be able to install on your device as the device will by default, only installs “signed” applications. But don’t worry. It can be a relatively painless process to be able to install it on your device. You can either read lots and lots of information on the internet on how to register at various Chinese forums, get certificates and go through hoops to get the application signed. Or, donate $5 for a hacking program that can allow you to install any unsigned applications. Interested? Check out my post and review of HelloOX2 and start installing unsigned apps without any problems or hassles! I did and I’m enjoying it!
This screenshot program, since it’s based on Antony Pranata’s Screenshot for Symbian OS looks very similar. It is fairly easy to configure and use. There are a few extra buttons or button combinations you can set to trigger the screen capture. You also have the capability to watermark your images AND timestamp them! This really adds some great features to the program and the timestamp can be very helpful when diagnosing programs and being able to determine what the screen looked like at a specific time.
You can opt to either save the screenshot images on your device or on the expansion memory card. If it’s saved to the device, it will be saved under:
C:\DATA\IMAGES\SuperScreenshot
If you select the memory card, the screenshots will be saved under:
E:\Images\SuperScreenshot
Now that you know where to look for the images, you won’t be scrambling all over the device and folders searching for them.

Super Screenshot is a new screenshot program, which finally permits to make landscape screenshots, even on the 5800 XM. In addition, the program is providing some other features. It reminds strongly of ScreenSnap - but some features are more naturally represented. Super Screenshot is originally designed for S60 3rd devices but it is also running on S60v5 and the 5800 XM. The program is unsigned and thus must be signed.
