It’s time for another installment of Palm Discovery’s wReview Wednesday!
One thing you can be certain of, whether you’re at the doctor’s, dentist or anywhere for that matter is that you will find that although you have set up an appointment for something, chances are you will still need to wait. So, what’s the appointment for then, again?
Rather than twiddling your thumbs, why not find something else to occupy your time and thumbs with a game? Today we will be reviewing a fun game called Paper Toss for the iPhone and iPod Touch by Backflip Studios. Just like in real life when you’re just bored and want something fun to do, you can throw a crumpled up paper ball into the wastebasket. This certainly makes it much easier. Best part about this game is that it’s FREE!

The game is very simple. Your objective is to throw a crumpled up paper ball into the wastebasket. You don’t need to crumple it yourself. It’s all done for you. All you need to do is throw it into the wastebasket. And if you miss, that’s okay. The game will pick it up for you, or more like, it disappears. To throw the paper ball, simply flick your finger in the direction where you want it to be thrown and the ball will be thrown. But there’s a catch. There’s a fan that’s blowing in a certain direction and at a certain wind speed. So, you will need to figure out how much more or less you’ll need to throw to compensate for the wind speed. It will also count the number of successive shots that went in so that you have a target to try to beat.

There are various levels available in the game (Easy, Medium, Hard) plus additional scenarios or backgrounds as well, including: Airport, Basement, Restroom. With each higher level of difficulty, the wastebasket is further away, thus making it harder to aim the paper ball into the wastebasket. The sound effects in each level and backgrounds make it fun to play. However, you can also turn off the sound if you wish, such as when you’re in a meeting
.
Since this game is a FREE version, you will notice that there is a bar at the bottom of the main screen and at the top of the screen in the game that will show ads. Should you wish to get rid of the ads, you can purchase Paper Toss Ad-free for $0.99. There is also the Paper Toss: World Tour also for $0.99 which offers much more exotic backgrounds for playing.

Easy to play
Very simple and easy game to play. No need to read a manual. Simply flick your finger and the paper ball will be tossed. Fun and simple.
Various levels of play plus special backgrounds
The three main levels of Easy, Medium and Hard is fun and challenging enough to play. The addition of extra levels like Airport, Basement and Restroom really make it even more fun.
Sound effects/background noise enhance game play
I enjoyed listening to the background sounds and noises while playing as it adds to the game play enjoyment.
Can start and stop at any time
I love the design of the game for those who are just playing when they have the time. There is no time limit or anything that makes or forces you to keep playing. And when you come back to it, you won’t find that you had stopped it in the middle of something and have to get back. Start and stop whenever you like and it will be there. I love this design.
Free
What can you say? I love free.
May be too simple to keep it fun
Due to its simplicity in design, after a while of playing this game, some people may find it not very challenging anymore and may find it boring to play. However, it is still a very good game to play whenever you need to kill some time but without worrying about disrupting the game when you need to stop.
Ad-supported
There is a ad bar at the bottom of the main screen and at the top of the game screen which may be annoying but then, this is a free game, so really, I’m not complaining.
There really isn’t anything that I disliked in this game. However, here are some ideas that may make it more challenging.
Two fans
If there were two fans placed at various positions, this could make for some very challenging and interesting game.
Flying objects
Should there be periodic flying objects like paper airplanes or something else that may interfere with the paper ball, it could also make for an interesting game.
Paper Toss is a very simple and easy to play game that can appeal to many. Its simplicity and start and stop design make it a very fun game to play whenever you want or have the time to do so, without worrying about your score or disrupting it in progress. This is probably one of the best games you can play when you want and stop at any time without disrupting the game. Best of all, it’s free! Check out Paper Toss and let me know what you think!
