Feed Me Oil for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad
You hear about it on the news or read about it in the paper. Such and such oil tanker is leaking oil. Or a train cargo containing crude derailed and there’s a spill. In those kinds of scenarios, we tend to try to contain and clean it out. How about avoiding those kinds of spills in the first place? Well, here’s your chance. Well, not really. You’re given the story and scenario in which you’re given a broken pipeline that contains oil and your job is to avoid allowing it to spill to the ground but direct it to a specific target, which unbelievably turns out to be the mouth of a creature, that seems to be part of the land. Huh? Never mind. It sounds and seems odd but that’s what you’re trying to do: direct the flow of oil to a specific target.

The game is set in a wacky, weird world in which the land is actually made up of creatures that are hungry or thirsty for oil. Your job is to use special tools like platforms, spinning platforms and others to help you direct the oil from a broken end of a pipe to a specific target: the mouth of a creature that also happens to be part of the land. Weird, I know. If you can get past the wacky story, you’ll be able to enjoy the game.
There are three main chapters (levels) of games, with each game having a different backdrop and tools with the same objective of moving the oil from the broken pipe to the mouth of the land creature. Besides those, there are a set of four different bonus games which can be unlocked by fulfilling certain goals or targets, such as obtaining 50 stars. The game is also timed so that means, the faster you can complete a game, the more points and stars you may get for that.
Plus, the game also supports Game Center and Crystal, for those who enjoy such support and being able to compare scores with others as well as viewing achievements.

Relatively easy to play
The game is relatively easy to play. The game gives you instructions and pointers to help you figure out how to play it.
Interesting game concept
I like the game concept with the use of oil, a liquid that is free flowing and also the concept of gravity and physics to help make it interesting. Who would ever think of a game involving the black liquid gold?
3 levels of puzzles
There are three levels or chapters as they’re called: Big Oil Pipeline, Red Alert…, Feed Em All!, each containing many games under those themes allowing you enough games to keep you entertained.
Supports offline playing
In this day and age of online games, it’s nice to know that this game can be played without any internet access. Play anytime you want, anywhere you want without worrying about not having internet. Yes!
Game Center and Crystal support
I like that the game offers Game Center support for those who like to be able to get a good feel of how they compare with others. Plus you can view your achievements in Crystal as well.
Sound, music control
The game allows control over the sound and music. You can toggle between having the music and or sound off or on.
Timed challenge
I like that this game offers the extra challenge of timing your attempts. So obviously, you’d get more points for completing a game in less time. Plus, if you use less than the tools provided to complete the game, you also get extra points. This forces you to think your strategy more before actually playing and makes for challenging play.
Variety of tools to keep game interesting
Although you are provided with a certain type of tool each game, I like that there are different ones that may be presented for some games. This keeps the game interesting as opposed to using the same tool, for example a platform to play with.
Bonus games available
I really like the idea of providing those bonus games. However, in order to unlock them, you’ll need to attain a certain number of stars before it will be unlocked. This makes for a very persuasive incentive to play the game more often.
Hints available
I like how the game offers hints (should you wish to use it) to help you complete a game and allow you to progress to the next one as opposed to not offering the choice. This allows those who are stuck a chance to try the next level and those who don’t wish to use it, still play without being provided the hints.
Tutorial, storyline explains how to play
I like the presentation of the story at the beginning of the game to give the player a background of the game. I also like that the first game involving a new tool offers some hints and pointers on how to complete it. It helps a lot as you don’t have to guess or scratch your head over it.
Great sound effects and game music
I like how the game offers some rain effects when the game involves rain falling down
and the changing music from one game to another so that, again, the games are a bit different from each other and less monotonous.
Game selection support
Although you can only play up to the next game, you can re-play games you’ve already completed to allow you to improve your score and the number of stars achieved.
No music background playback support
The game does not support background music playback and that’s too bad.
Portrait only
The game is rendered in portrait mode only and it is the best mode to render the game, however I always believe that the choice should be given to the end user whether to play in portrait or landscape.
Strange creatures and story
Although I enjoy the game with the wacky story, I am a bit puzzled at how it’s presented. We’re dealing with creatures that look like they’re part of the land and they crave for oil. Hmmm. I don’t know. Perhaps provide something different like an oil tank or something instead of creatures. It doesn’t make sense that you’re dealing with weird creatures that are part of the ground.
One suggestion I have is to perhaps penalize for oil that gets on the ground which I think may make it much more challenging.
Like I said, if you can turn the other way with regards to the wacky story, you may get to enjoy the game.
May get boring after a while
Although there are bonus games and three chapters worth of games, since the same objective is there, I’m guessing that some people may find the game boring after a while of playing as you are doing the same thing, even though the background is different.
No Twitter or Facebook integration
When so many games offer some kind of integration to the Facebook or Twitter page of the game or developers, I’m surprised that this game doesn’t offer it.
No contact info
I don’t like it when game developers don’t offer even an email address or a contact button in their games to allow gamers to contact them with respect to bugs, comments, etc. Obviously, this game doesn’t offer this feature.
Feed Me Oil for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad is an interesting game involving physics, fluid mechanics, common sense, brains and of course, the black stuff. Your job is to direct the oil from a broken pipeline to the mouth of the land creature using a variety of different tools such as platforms and moving platforms. You are also trying to complete the challenge in as little time as possible. Should you need some help, there are hints available. With three levels or chapters each with many different games, you will be well entertained for a while. Think you have what it takes to feed them oil? Then check out Feed Me Oil.
