Hairstyle for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad
Well, with August behind us that means it’s back to school for many of us. And for most girls, that means, it’s time for a new hairdo. One of the biggest dilemma facing many girls is what kind of hairstyle to get. You know the feeling. You’re at the hair salon and you’re not really sure what do to get. And I’m sure many of us may have experienced the OMG what have I done kind of moment when our hair looks nowhere near Julia Roberts or Jennifer Aniston. Or, we found out that what may look great for others may not look as nice on us. What to do? None of us can afford a hair expert to tell us what looks best on us. Fret not. There’s an app that can help you solve your problems. And for the guys, this app is also available for you as well. You can also load your photo and use it to display various different hairstyles for men that you can try and check out. So now, guys, you won’t feel so left out.
Hairstyle for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad is an app that will allow you to load an image of your face with various different hairstyles, allowing you to see firsthand how you look with these different hairstyles. No more guessing or wishing. You now can instantly view and choose from over 270 hairstyles and 53 different hair colors. If you already have a picture of yourself on your iPhone, you can easily load it to the app and view your do. Or, you can also have the app load your profile or other pictures on Facebook. Or, you can also simply take a picture and use it to view the hairstyle. Regardless of how you get your picture, you can choose from the many different hairstyles and hair color available to get an idea of how you look with various hairstyles. Think of this app as a try it out before you cut type of app. Of course, this app does have its limitations as you are simply overlaying a hairstyle image over your face. It can’t replace a makeup or hairstyle expert but it is an inexpensive way to try different hairstyles out before you actually commit to a particular style.

Hairstyle for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad is quite simply, an app that will allow you to get an idea of how different hairstyles and different hair color will look on you. The app isn’t magic. It is merely an app that will enable you to load a forward looking image of you and choose from the many different hairstyles that you can overlay or have it go on top of your picture to give you a combined image that shows you with a particular hairstyle. There is nothing magical about it but it is a good and easy way for anyone to view an image of him or her with a particular hairstyle. Let’s face it, no pun intended, some hairstyles that may look great on someone may not necessarily look great on you. Everyone’s facial shape is different so different hairstyles will look better on someone else than you and vice versa. This app will allow you to get a quick view of how you look with different types of hairstyles. And this is how it’s done.
When you load up or run the app, you’ll see the main screen which has a “Photo” button. Tap on it and it will load a screen with different buttons and options: Take photo, Use a model, Photo Album, Photos from facebook and Recently used photos.
Take photo will launch the camera app on the iPhone. Take a picture and the app will load your image. You will then see a screen where there’s an outline of a face with eyes and an image of you, from the recently snapped photo. You can zoom in (+) or zoom out (-) and drag and arrange your image in such a way that the outline of your face and eyes will match the outline of the app’s facial feature. Doing so will help the app overlay the hairstyle images much more accurately so that the image will look somewhat proportionate and realistic.
Use a model will display a screen with various selected models. You can use them to try out the different hairstyles. However, you should select a model with a similar facial shape to get a better idea of what hairstyles will look on you.
Photo Album will allow you to select a photo from your iPhone’s photo album. If you have a photo you’d like to use for the app, select it and load it in the app. However, you should use a forward facing photo to get best results.
Photos from Facebook will allow you to load your Facebook pictures, whether your profile pictures or others into the app. You’ll need to sign into Facebook first before you can access and use them for the app.
Recently used photos will allow you to view the various photos you’ve recently used and loaded into the app. You can select the pictures again to create a new look, as a quick loading and viewing of the hairstyles without needing to take a picture or upload them again.
At any time once you’ve loaded your photo and selected a hairstyle, you can save it to your photo album, share via email and share via Facebook so that you can get your friend’s reaction and thoughts on the hairstyle. Or, if you save it in the photo album, you can use that image to show to the hairdresser to give them an idea of what you wanted. Now if only we had these a decade or two ago!

Easy to use
The app is fairly easy to use. When you launch the app, you have a screen with the “Take Photo” button. Most people would figure out to tap on that button to be taken to the next screen that will provide the various ways a picture can get loaded in the app. On most screens, you can find an information screen where it will explain what is needed to be done.
270 different hairstyles
You can choose from over 270 different hairstyles ranging from short to medium to long and even updo. That’s a lot of hairstyles to choose from, probably much more than most of us could even imagine or want to try.
53 different hair colors
There are 53 different hair color shades to choose from, again, giving you the option of choosing a shade that you may want to check out or try.
Quick hairstyle viewer
The best feature of this app is the ability to quickly load a picture of yourself or even a friend or acquaintance and get a choice of and a grid of thumbnail images of different hairstyles. It merely takes about a second for the app to load the image and overlay with the different hairstyles. Quickly be able to figure out which styles are right for you and which to avoid and which you may be interested in trying. You don’t even need to wait for your hair to grow longer.
Can load photos from album
Aside from taking a picture right from within the app, you can also choose from pictures in your iPhone’s photo album. This saves time and there’s no worrying about the lighting or how your hair looks right now. Most likely, the picture in the album looks good enough.
Facebook integration
The app features Facebook integration. Log into Facebook and be able to share your hairstyle images with your Facebook friend and get their input on a particular hairstyle.
Can load photos from Facebook
In addition, you can also have the app access and load your Facebook photos whether from tagged photos, your profile picture or others. Again, this could save some time and not have to get you to take a picture right away.
Can take picture and load into app
If you don’t have any photos stored in your iPhone or in your Facebook account, you can still take a picture now and load it in. The picture and loading of it in the app takes only a few seconds and afterwards, you can arrange and set up your image for the hairstyle.
Can choose from short, medium, long and updo hairstyles
You can choose from the varying lengths of hairstyles from short to medium to long and even updo. You’d be surprised how many different styles are available for each length of hair.
Men hairstyles supported
Not to alienate the men, the app also has a section for men, with a selection of mens’ hairstyles. The same idea and features mentioned previously also apply. You can load photos from Facebook, your photo album or take a picture.
Offline use supported
The app supports offline use as you can still be able to view your hairstyles from previously uploaded images. However, if you wish to access your Facebook account or similar tasks related to the internet, you would need to allow the iPhone to have access.
Hairstyle information available
Another great feature of the app is the hairstyle information, which gives detailed information on the particular hairstyle such as suitability for the type of hair, how to prepare and set it and others.
Can adjust photo to fit in outline for proportionate image
This is one of the biggest advantages of this particular app when compared to others, the ability to adjust your photo to fit into the app’s facial outline. Doing so will allow the app to overlay the hairstyles to match the proportion of your face with the hairstyle. Other apps do not offer this feature and as a result, the final image looks disproportionate and unreal. Because this app offers this feature, the hairstyles look much better and more realistic.
Can reload previously used photos for quick viewing
If you have either taken a picture with the iPhone, or loaded your photos from Facebook or your photo album, the image is stored in the app and readily accessible. All you have to do is tap on the Recently Used Photos and you will be shown a screen of the last few photos you’ve accessed and loaded in the app. This saves the time of re-taking another picture or having to reload certain pictures in the app as it’s already in it.
Can change backgrounds
The background of your image can change a bit. You can toggle between the actual background, a black
No Twitter integration
Since there is Facebook integration with the app, I am a bit surprised that there is no Twitter integration. This could easily be done with a quick upload link with a bit.ly or other url shortener service. There currently is no Twitter love here.
Can’t delete individual photos
Although you can clear or delete the entire screen of past or recent photos, there is no option to select individual ones to clear or delete. Considering that we may make mistakes with pictures turning out bad, it would be nice to be able to easily and quickly delete or remove certain pictures.
Hairstyle may look unnatural
This is practically impossible as we are dealing with lighting, color and the lighting and color of our skin, our hair, etc. So, it’s very hard to produce hairstyles that can magically blend in with our face. But, for what the app offers, I think it’s still pretty good.
No contact link
There is no direct contact link button from an About screen or similar. However, if you tap on the other apps button on the bottom right of the app, you will be able to have direct access to the developer’s website. However, I would still prefer to have a special screen with an email address or something similar for anyone to quickly and easily contact the developer.
No bug submit feature
Similar to the previous point, if and when a bug is found in the app, it would be very helpful for the developer and the end user to be able to point it out and submit a bug report to the developer. This two way street could easily help discover and quash bugs quickly.
No About screen
I think it’s very important for a developer to come up with an About screen. The “i” button only provided a screen with a link to the hairstylechannel.com website and not its own developer website. I think I would like to be able to view the contributors to the app in an About screen.
Hairstyle for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad offers you an inexpensive way both monetary and emotionally to try out different hairstyles within seconds without actually going to the hair salon and having your hair cut. You don’t even have to wait for your hair to grow long either as the app will show you 270 different hairstyles and 53 different color shades. You can either take a picture, load your photos from your photo album or even from your Facebook account. It only takes a few seconds to view all the various different hairstyles with various lengths and in different colors. Save your money and your sanity and try out the hairstyles first before you plunk down your hard earned cash on that hairstyles that may or may not fit you. With Hairstyle, you will KNOW how you look before you step in the salon with your choice of hairstyle.

Hello palmdiscovery,
Congratulations on your full time job. Thank you very much for continuing your posts. Best of luck with everything!
Hi, operadiva. Thank you! It is getting very difficult to keep it up but I really want to keep on posting because of people like you, who appreciate it.
However, with a full-time M-F early morning to afternoon job, a part-time weekend job and taking evening courses, it can be quite a handful.
I just wanted to let everyone know, and hopefully understand why I am getting a bit late on the posts. It’s certainly not my intention but sometimes, I do need the sleep and it’s more often now that the choice is either to get the sleep to get to work refreshed the next morning or posting.
